Barcelona director Deco very keen on 19-year-old Brazilian winger excelling in La Liga

Barcelona have not been at their best consistently enough this season, especially in recent games, when things have not gone their way.

As such, manager Xavi Hernandez has come under some pressure, especially with the club’s style of play being questioned.

One of the major issues for Barça this term has been the fact that their attacking unit has not fired collectively on a consistent basis.

None of the wide players, in particular, have excelled, which is a concern that the Catalans wish to address in the future windows.

Deco has his eyes on Savinho

As such, SPORT’s Joaquim Piera is reporting that Barcelona director Deco has underlined the name of Girona winger Savinho as a potential target for the summer of 2024.

Savinho arrived at Girona from Troyes during the summer and has become an important player for Michel’s side, helping them to the top of the La Liga standings.

Girona have scored the most number of goals in La Liga this term (31), with Savinho directly contributing with eight goals (G4, A4) – no Barça winger has managed that tally so far this term.

It has not gone unnoticed by Deco, who has added the name of the 19-year-old Brazilian winger as a possible target for the summer of 2024.

Barcelona will try to sign a winger

As mentioned earlier, with the wide players not being quite prolific in attack this term, Barcelona will likely enter the market for a new winger in the summer, particularly someone who can excel on the left flank.

Nico Williams of Athletic Club has already been mentioned as a target, although he could prefer a move to Real Madrid.

Savinho, thus, could be an enticing option given that he is comfortable playing both on the right and left wings, and is just 19 years old.

Those at Barcelona believe that the Brazilian has the ‘Barça profile’ and it remains to be seen if they act on the interest come summer.
