Barcelona have two proposals for a friendly next month, decision to be made on economic criteria

It has been well-established by now that Barcelona will be playing a friendly match next month, before going on the Christmas break, in order to generate some revenue.

The Blaugrana need to generate some urgent revenue to be able to incorporate players in January and any income is welcome.

As such, the Catalan giants have been working to arrange a friendly encounter in December, which would lead to some cash inflow.

Two proposals on the table

Recent reports had suggested that the friendly would be taking place in the USA on December 21, with Mexican side Club America touted as the opponents.

However, as per a fresh update from RAC1, the full details of the friendly match is still not entirely locked in.

As per the report, Barcelona have two proposals on the table – one from the USA and another from the Middle East.

A decision on the matter will be taken in the coming weeks and it will be made based on the economic criteria, given how important it is for Barça to bring in the added revenue.

What appears fixed, though, is that the friendly will take place on December 21, soon after the Blaugrana play UD Almeria in La Liga.

Once the mid-season friendly is out of the way, the Catalans will depart for the Christmas break before the campaign resumes in early January with a contest against Las Palmas.
