Gabriel Moscardo is among the new pool of Brazilian talents making their mark in South America and could soon be set for a move to Europe.
A defensive midfielder by trade, Moscardo has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence at Corinthians. At the age of just 18, the midfielder has already featured in 23 matches for his club.
Moscardo’s growth has not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona among the clubs interested in securing his services.
Moscardo rated highly at Barcelona
According to a recent report from SPORT, Gabriel Moscardo is rated extremely highly inside the Barcelona circles.
It appears the club’s technical staff has been left quite impressed by the Brazilian’s ability to control the play in the middle of the park, coupled with his tackling prowess.
Moscardo’s contract at Corinthians expires in 2026, but everything suggests that the youngster could be set for a move to Europe next summer, at the very least.
Barcelona can’t bid for Moscardo
Despite rating the player quite highly, Barcelona are not in a position to enter the bidding for the Brazilian, the report adds.
That is because the club cannot compete with Premier League teams that are also interested in securing the teenager’s services.
Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs who have shown the desire to sign Moscardo in the near future and as things stand, both clubs are prepared to splash the cash for the midfielder.
Barcelona, therefore, may have to look at other alternatives. It must be noted that the club have identified three options, in their bid to reinforce the midfield unit, with Martin Zubimendi emerging as the standout candidate.
