Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club is a professional football club based in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, England, which competes in the Premier League, the highest level of English football. The club was founded in 1889 and is one of the oldest clubs in English football. Nicknamed "The Seagulls", Brighton & Hove Albion has a long and rich history.
Early Success
Brighton & Hove Albion won their first league title in 1909–10, when they won the Southern League Division One. They also reached the FA Cup final in 1935. The club won the Football League Third Division South in 1964–65 and the Football League Second Division in 1978–79.
A Period of Struggle
Brighton & Hove Albion fell on hard times in the early 2000s. They were relegated to the Football League Third Division in 2001 and the Football League Fourth Division in 2008. The club was promoted back to the Football League Championship in 2010.
A Return to the Premier League
Brighton & Hove Albion was promoted back to the Premier League in 2017. They have been a consistent presence in the Premier League ever since. The club has finished in the top 10 of the Premier League once.
