Crystal Palace Football Club is a professional football club based in Selhurst, South London, England, which competes in the Premier League, the highest level of English football. The club was founded in 1861 and is one of the oldest clubs in English football. Nicknamed "The Eagles", Crystal Palace has a long and rich history.
Early Success
Crystal Palace won their first FA Cup in 1910. They also reached the FA Cup final in 1895, 1936 and 1990. The club won the Football League First Division in 1970–71. They also reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1990-91.
A Period of Struggle
Crystal Palace fell on hard times in the early 2000s. They were relegated to the Football League Championship in 2001 and the Football League Third Division in 2005. The club was promoted back to the Football League Championship in 2008.
A Return to the Premier League
Crystal Palace was promoted back to the Premier League in 2013. They have been a consistent presence in the Premier League ever since.
