Getafe president aims a dig at Barcelona manager Xavi: “Been coaching for three days”

Indeed, Torres tried to defend the criticism against coach Jose Bordalas by mentioning Xavi, whereas he suggested that the authorities should reach a final verdict on the Negreira case.

Torres defends Bordalas, criticises Xavi

Talking about the intense flak received by Jose Bordalas this season, Torres said (h/t SPORT), “With Bordalás, many people have been unfair. It hurts any human being to be so unfair to someone and the data has been shown to be untrue.”

Torres went on to mention Xavi, who had criticised Bordalas’ style of play and even called out the referees when Barcelona drew goalless with Getafe in the season opener.

“People who have been coaching for three days dare to tell him how he has to play. Xavi, for example, Cholo, any coach,” Torres added.

Torres on Super League and Negreira scandal

Angel Torres went on to fire another shot at Barcelona by mentioning the Negreira scandal.

“It has to be fixed for the good of football and Barcelona. It has to be taken to the ultimate consequences. It is happening in England, Italy and in Spain it has to be the same. If that has happened, someone will have to pay the consequences,” he said.

The Getafe president even criticised Joan Laporta, calling his public statements vague. He further stated that there has to be a sanction.

Moving on, Torres also criticised on the Barcelona-backed European Super League, calling it a bad omen for Spanish football.

“It doesn’t make any sense. It wouldn’t be good for the Spanish league. And without the English clubs, it’s not possible. For me, Spain is the best league in Europe but the Premier League is fifteen years ahead of us economically, Torres said.
