Barcelona are understood to be looking for a left-winger for the summer transfer window of 2024, even though it is still quite some way away.
It has given way to speculations linking a number of players to the Catalan giants starting with Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, who will be a free agent in the summer if he does not sign a new contract.
Another name from La Liga being linked with the Blaugrana is Girona starlet Savinho, who has been enjoying a fine season.
Deco likes Savinho
The 19-year-old Brazilian sensation has been one of the key players in Michel’s side this term, helping them to the top of the La Liga standings.
Barcelona sporting director Deco is understood to have taken a liking to Savinho and is seriously considering the teenage forward as an option for the summer of 2024.
As such, Barcelona are closely monitoring the young winger and his progression at Girona as they mull over a potential move for him next year.
Girona director responds to Barcelona interest
Speaking to the media recently, Girona director Quique Carcel addressed the topic of Barcelona being interested in Savinho.
He stated that while it is a matter of pride for him that Deco likes the teenage winger, the club’s idea is to keep hold of the Brazilian.
“To be told that Deco likes one of your players makes you very proud. It already happened to us last season with Oriol Romeu, but our objective is to retain these players because changing the whole squad is difficult,” Carcel said, as quoted by SPORT.
As per the report from SPORT, Savinho is currently valued at €20 million, but if he keeps up with his level of performances, his price could shoot up.
For now, Deco and Barcelona are keeping a close eye on his progress and it remains to be seen if there is any movement come summer.
