Barcelona board dissatisfied with superstar’s performances, exploring summer sale to Saudi Arabia

Robert Lewandowski has had a sharp decline over the past few months at FC Barcelona. One of the greatest modern-day strikers, the Poland captain has seemingly lost his clinical edge in recent matches, with his profligacy in front of goal hurting the club.

Lewandowski’s declining performances have generated some dissatisfaction within the Barcelona ranks, with speculations regarding a summer exit also doing the rounds.

Recently, though, it was reported that the Blaugrana were not looking to part ways with the 35-year-old next summer. But fresh updates on the matter suggest otherwise.

Barcelona board unhappy, in talks with Arab agent over possible sale

Indeed, Alfredo Martinez of SPORT is reporting that Barcelona board members are very dissatisfied with Lewandowski’s performances this season.

It is true that everything will depend on whether the player wants to leave or not, which it seems he doesn’t, but there are more and more voices in favour of his departure.

In fact, the report adds that on behalf of the club they have spoken to an Arab agent (all transfers to Saudi Arabia must go through an authorised intermediary in the country) to intercede and sound out the option of a transfer in June to an Arab club.

Pini Zahavi could welcome the operation

Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, recently met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco, separately. Following that, he dismissed speculations regarding the striker’s future.

But as per the aforementioned report, Zahavi might welcome Lewandowski’s transfer to Saudi Arabia in the summer.

At this point, a fee of around €30 million is being talked about, but the deal could end up happening for €20 million, with Barcelona also saving his large wages.

Nothing is certain at this point, but there appears to be a chance that Lewandowski could be offloaded come summer.
