Barcelona have never shied away from providing young talents a platform to showcase their talents on the biggest of stages.
In light of their fickle financial state, acquiring players at the peak of their powers and those who have entered their prime years appears improbable.
As such, youngsters with fairly little exposure but bucketloads of potential are being sought after by the Catalan giants.
Barcelona eyeing Bergvall and Echeverri
As per SPORT the club is searching through the scouting department for talented young players, aiming to sign them before they explode and financially stable clubs come in.
And two players that have caught the club’s eye with this strategy in place are Lucas Bergvall and Claudio Echeverri.
At 17 years of age, Bergvall has been making waves in Sweden, his home country. The €5 million-rated midfielder has a contract until December 2025 and is reportedly also being tailed by heavyweights like Manchester United and Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, Echeverri is a more prominent prospect, having entered the spotlight after producing an incredible under-17 World Cup campaign, which was held in Indonesia.
In the quarterfinal matchup with Brazil, the River Plate sensation put on an incredible show, scoring a hat-trick to advance Argentina to the final.
In fact, Echverri already pledged his admiration for the Blaugranes recently, stating:
“As well as River, I would like to play for Barça. I’m a big fan of Messi and I used to watch him play for Barcelona, so I’ve had this team inside me since I was very young,”
With a release clause of €25 million, which could reach €30 million when he turns 18 in January, Barcelona continue to monitor his progress, but are also wary with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea lurking in the background.
