Barcelona president will back Xavi at least until the end of the season despite recent results

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has informed the internal stakeholders to stop any debate regarding Xavi’s future at the club as he has decided to support the manager until the end of the season and if the situation still does not improve, the team will take the next step, reports SPORT.

Xavi’s immediate future at FC Barcelona has been cast into uncertainty following a string of poor results against Griona, Royal Antwerp, and Valencia.

However, even though some people within the club have expressed their disapproval, and a section of the board is worried about how the team is doing, Laporta is certain that Xavi will stay as the coach until the season ends, no matter what.

Xavi is Laporta’s bet

Laporta has a lot of confidence in Xavi, and he doesn’t want any discussions about the coach until the end of the season. He thinks Xavi is the perfect person for the job and doesn’t see anyone else who can fix things during the middle of the season.

As such, Laporta is willing to go through tough times because he believes Xavi is the right choice this year. However, in the event of chaos, they will make necessary decisions in the summer.

Furthermore, the president doesn’t want people inside the club to argue about Xavi and he won’t allow any more information leaks that make the coach look bad in public.

Even though some people are not happy about it, Laporta thinks it’s the best thing for Barcelona right now. He believes the team will get better in January and hopes the season will finish well, possibly with a significant trophy.

Laporta has invested in Xavi a lot

Laporta is of the belief that it is just too early to make a decision regarding Xavi. Regarding all the pessimism around the club, the president usually keeps to himself despite knowing a lot about what’s going on.

But now, he sees that the players support Xavi, and that could be crucial for turning things around. Laporta and Xavi are sticking together until May, and then they’ll decide if they need to change the team’s direction.

Furthermore, the board has even informed Xavi that they are trying to get him a new player for the midfield, especially since Gavi’s absence has been more noticeable than expected.
