Barcelona fell to a 2-3 defeat to Club America in their mid-season friendly despite having taken the lead twice during the game in Dallas.
The Catalans went ahead within ten minutes through young prodigy Lamine Yamal, who was one of the star performers for Xavi’s side on the night. Another academy graduate, Marc Guiu, was also on target for Barça.
But a double from Julian Quinones on either side of Guiu’s strike meant Club America were on level terms before Henry Martin won it for the Mexican outfit in the 82nd minute.
Yamal, who impressed on the day against Club America, spoke to the media after the match, claiming that it was a great feeling to play and put on a show for fans in the USA.
“It was a great game for both teams. It’s an honour to play here, for the Barcelona fans who are here in the United States. We are happy,” he said.
“The truth is Club America is a good team, they surprised me a lot,” Yamal added, discussing the opponents.
Despite having a good performance in general, Yamal pointed out to an area in his game that he needed to work on, saying: “Today against Club America I lost a few balls, I have to improve on that.”
The teenage wonderkid also discussed Mexican legend Rafa Marquez, who is excelling as hte manager of Barça Atletic currently, saying: “Last season I had him as my coach for a few games at Barça Atletic, he supported me a lot.”
