Ilkay Gundogan is someone who has been under the microscope more times than any other Barcelona player this season.
Since joining the club from Manchester City in the summer, the Spanish media has kept a close watch on the German international.
Earlier, it was reported that Gundogan is not happy with his life in Barcelona and the facilities provided by the club. He also raised a lot of eyebrows following his brutally honest comments after the Real Madrid defeat.
Gundogan happy at Barcelona
However, in a recent interview, Ilkay Gundogan has squashed these claims and has expressed his delight at Barcelona.
“Everyone is amazing here and I’m treated great at the club,” he said in an interaction with the club.
“As a family, we love the city and feel very comfortable here. I didn’t doubt for a second when I chose Barcelona,” the midfielder added.
Gundogan joined Barcelona on the back of a brilliant campaign at Manchester City, where he captained a team that secured a treble last season.
Looking forward to spending many years here: Gundogan
Amid rumours about his dissatisfaction at Barcelona, Gundogan even went on to state that he is here to stay in Catalonia.
“We are very happy and look forward to spending many years here,” he said. “I came here to prove myself and continue playing great football and winning a lot of titles.”
This comes despite the fact that Barcelona have failed to maintain their consistency from the earlier parts of the season and are struggling to keep up with Real Madrid and Girona at the top of the league table.
The Catalans, though, have managed to secure qualification to the UCL knockout rounds. A win against Atletico Madrid later this evening could also go a long way in helping the team put up a fight for the league title.
As the season progresses, one would expect Gundogan to play a key role in helping Barcelona fight for these titles.
