The rumours of Bayern Munich wanting to sign Ronald Araujo from Barcelona either in January or at the end of the season are spreading like wildfire in recent days.
It has been suggested that Die Roten have made the 24-year-old Barça skipper their top target and that there have been direct talks held with the player.
Even though the player’s entourage denied those claims, earlier today reports in Germany reiterated that a call did take place between Araujo, Bayern Munich’s manager Thomas Tuchel, and director Christoph Freund.
It was claimed that during the call, Freund presented the club’s entire plan and project to Araujo in hope of convincing him to join the Bavarians.
Araujo did not speak to Bayern
Now, though, a fresh update from Adrian Sanchez has come about, providing more clarity on the matter at hand.
As per the report, Araujo’s entourage have once again underlined the point that the Barcelona defender has not spoken to anyone from Bayern Munich.
Instead, it was the Uruguayan international’s agent who received a call from the Bavarian giants and had contacts with officials from their club.
However, Araujo’s representative took the call only as a courtesy and the continued insistence of Bayern director Freund.
There is no intention on the defender’s part to secure a transfer and the same was relayed to the German champions – Araujo wants to stay at Barcelona.
Earlier today, Freund tried to stoke the fire by hinting at a potential move for Araujo, when he said:
“I don’t want to make a statement on that. The transfer window is approaching. Generally speaking — there are some talks, but I don’t want to say anything about that in detail.”
But, it appears that Araujo’s entourage have already made it clear to Bayern Munich that the defender plans to stay put and continue at Barcelona.
