Barcelona to offer €30-40 million for 24-year-old attacker, will look for another loan deal if offer rejected

A report from Mundo Deportivo has emerged, saying that Barcelona plan to offer Atletico Madrid an amount much lower than their expectations for the permanent signing of Joao Felix.

However, if the team from the Spanish capital do not accept the offer, the Blaugrana will ask to extend the Portuguese’s loan for another year and from there on, they will try to follow the same pattern that Atletico did with a certain Antoine Griezmann.

Interestingly enough, since the forward is keen on staying at Barcelona, he and his agent, Jorge Mendes, have given Barcelona the approval to do so.

What is Atletico’s demand?

We have reported before that Atletico Madrid’s initial ask for the Portuguese was a whopping €85 million, but after knowing that no suitor would shell out this amount, they finally decided to settle for €60 million.

In any way, given Barcelona’s financial constraints, the team from Catalonia is not willing to pay even €50 million for the forward, leading to the suggestion that another loan might very well be on the cards.

A couple of weeks back, we reported that Atletico do not want Felix back in the Spanish capital and while there will be another bid coming from Saudi Arabia next summer, the player will once again reject this idea.

It gives Barcelona an advantage, which is why they plan to offer only around €30-40 million to Atleti for Joao Felix.

If that is not accepted, the Catalans are expected to look for another loan deal with a possible purchase option for a low fee.

Can Barcelona sign Felix?

The resolution of this situation hinges on the Financial Fair Play scenario and the successful completion of sales by Barcelona in the summer.

Numerous factors are at play, and this narrative is anticipated to unfold only towards May and June rather than an immediate concern.

At present, Barcelona express immense satisfaction with the player, and the sentiment is similar to considerable happiness from his end. The overall atmosphere is positive, and those in close proximity to the player share the sentiment that a return to Atletico Madrid is unlikely.
