Last night was a memorable one for Joao Felix as he scored the only goal of the game to fire Barcelona to a 1-0 win over his parent club Atletico Madrid.
The 24-year-old had been the talk of the town leading into the game, considering how he was on loan at Barcelona from Atletico, where he had a falling out with Diego Simeone.
And, the forward proved a point by scoring what would be the match-winning goal on the night and celebrating it, something that did not go down well in the Colchoneros’ camp.
Joao Felix not in training
Now, a fresh report from journalist Helena Condis claims that Joao Felix was playing with a severe cold last night when Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid.
The report further states that the Portuguese international is now down with a fever and as such he was not part of today’s training sessions at Ciutat Esportiva.
Despite dealing with a bad cold last night, Joao Felix starred for Barça, putting in a fine performance that was capped with the match-winning goal.
With no midweek fixture scheduled, there will be enough time for Joao Felix to rest up and recover completely from his issue before Barcelona face joint table-toppers Girona in the coming weekend.
Things going well for Joao Felix
Joao Felix made a big splash soon after joining Barcelona on loan on the summer transfer deadline day, making valuable contributions on the pitch.
Things were not going all too well for him in recent weeks though as he went through a goalscoring rut while performance levels also took a hit.
But, the Portuguese international has once again stepped up for Barcelona last week, scoring two very vital goals against FC Porto and Atletico Madrid.
The 24-year-old now has five goals and three assists from 17 games in all competitions, and will be eager to add to that tally further in the games to come.
