While Manchester United have made some mistakes in recent years, they still have some really talented players on their books.
Erik ten Hag enjoyed an impressive debut season in 2022/23 as United ended their trophy drought and finished third in the Premier League.
The manager has also overseen a squad overhaul at Old Trafford, making 10 permanent signings and allowing 19 first-team players to leave the club.
Using data from Transfermarkt, we’ve taken a look at the 10 most valuable players at United.
10= Diogo Dalot – €40m
One of Jose Mourinho’s last signings at Old Trafford, Dalot joined United from boyhood club Porto in a €21.6million deal in 2018.
The versatile right-back has gone from strength to strength under Ten Hag and recently signed a new five-year contract with the club.
“Diogo’s work ethic and professionalism is superb,” United football director John Murtough said. “The way in which he prepares himself every day in order to perform at his highest level is exactly what we all want from a Manchester United player.”
The Portugal international also ranks higher than fellow United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is currently valued at €25million.
10= Andre Onana – €40m
United identified Onana as the ideal replacement for David de Gea, who was released at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Ten Hag’s side secured his signature after agreeing to pay Inter Milan an initial €51million and another €4million in potential add-ons.
The 27-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best ball-playing goalkeepers in the world, but he has made a number of high-profile errors this season.
Despite his initial struggles at Old Trafford, Onana is still the joint-most valuable goalkeeper in the Premier League alongside Manchester City’s Ederson.
10= Casemiro – €40m
Casemiro arrived at United last year with some serious pedigree, having won three La Liga titles and five Champions Leagues at Real Madrid.
He enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Old Trafford in 2022/23 and scored the opening goal in the Carabao Cup final win over Newcastle United.
But the 31-year-old, who is the oldest player on this list, wasn’t a long-term investment by United and has struggled for form and fitness in 2023/24.

7. Luke Shaw – €42m
Shaw came through the ranks at Southampton before completing a €37.5million move to United in the summer of 2014.
The left-back struggled under Jose Mourinho but has since become an integral part of the United team, winning their Players’ Player of the Year award in 2018/19 and 2020/21.
He is the longest-serving player at Old Trafford and recently signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.
Alongside Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko, the 28-year-old is currently the joint-most valuable left-back in the Premier League.
6= Antony – €50m
The second-most expensive signing in United’s history, Antony moved to Old Trafford in a €100million deal in the summer of 2022.
He registered eight goals and three assists in all competitions in his debut season and displayed glimpses of his obvious talent.
But the 23-year-old winger has also divided opinion among supporters with his inconsistent displays and his over-reliance on his favoured left foot.
His market value has dropped from €75million to €50million in the last 12 months and ESPN claim that United officials privately accept that they paid over the odds for the Brazil international.
6= Lisandro Martinez – €50m
United fought off competition from Arsenal to sign Martinez from Ajax in 2022 in a deal worth an initial €57.37million and another €10million in add-0ns.
Despite initial fears that he would be too small to handle the Premier League, the 5ft 9in centre-back silenced his critics and enjoyed a brilliant debut season.
The Argentina international has become a firm fan’s favourite at Old Trafford, and he has also earned praise from his team-mates.
“I could see his qualities, feel the passion that he brings, how aggressive he is and he’s got an amazing left foot,” Luke Shaw said.
“With the ball he’s so composed, so good and I think a lot of football nowadays is how well the centre-back can play out. But I think, for me, he’s got everything.”
4. Mason Mount – €60m
Mount came through the academy at Chelsea and made over 150 appearances for his boyhood club, winning their Player of the Year award in 2020/21 and 2021/22.
Despite enduring a difficult 2022/23 season, the midfielder did enough to impress Ten Hag and United paid €64.2million to secure his signature.
He signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford and took the iconic No.7 shirt, which has previously been worn by the likes of Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham.
But the 24-year-old has struggled with injury problems in 2023/24 and is yet to nail down a starting role in Ten Hag’s midfield.
3. Rasmus Hojlund – €65m
Hojlund has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the last 12 months and his market value has skyrocketed, going from €15million to €65million.
The 20-year-old striker joined United in the summer after they agreed to pay Atalanta an initial €75million plus €10million in potential add-ons.
While he is yet to open his account in the Premier League, the Denmark international has scored five goals in the Champions League and is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in European football.
1= Marcus Rashford – €75m
A United academy graduate, Rashford made his senior debut in February 2016 and has since become one of their most prized assets.
The 26-year-old enjoyed his best-ever season in 2022/23, registering 30 goals and 11 assists in 56 appearances in all competitions.
He signed a new five-year contract in the summer of 2023 and is now one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.
His market value has risen to €75million, although it is likely to take much more than that to prize him away from Old Trafford.
1= Bruno Fernandes – €75m
Since joining United in a €55million deal in January 2020, Fernandes has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League.
The Portugal international is renowned for his creativity and has also been a regular source of goals at Old Trafford, netting 69 in all competitions.
His importance to United was underlined in the summer when he was handed the captaincy by Ten Hag, who has been impressed with his leadership qualities.
“Bruno gives us a lot, always,” Ten Hag said. “[He is] an example on the pitch giving the energy, communicating. So there’s many skills to be the right captain and I think he shows it.
“His main skills are his energy, his defence transition is great, and also his final pass is very good. So three hugely-rated skills he has, besides others as well.”
