Inaki Pena: 1
Remain untroubled completely in the first half, but crumbled as soon as he was called into action. Refuses to catch the ball for some reason, and caused a lot of trouble with his poor sweeping.
Jules Kounde: 6
Provided width excellently on the right flank, creating a couple of decent chances. Did not have much to do defensively in the first half, but a lot more in the second.
Ronald Araujo: 7.5
Evidently out of form, Araujo dealt with most attacks well, but could not do anything about the goal.
Andreas Christensen: 7
Also pretty much unbothered at the back, carefully distributing the ball from deep, and starting attacks with his homing missile passes.
Hector Fort: 7.5
Decent performance from the Spaniard, who did well in an alien position on the left. Attacked the box when he could and fell back to defend his flank responsibly. Played a brilliant pass to the far post for the second goal.
Fermin Lopez: 8
Was on the end of most of the big chances created by Barcelona as he attacked the box like a seasoned 9. All attacks went through him in the final third, and was rewarded for his efforts with a goal in the first half.
Gave away a penalty in injury time that injected hopes for the hosts.
Oriol Romeu: 5
Impressive first half display from Romeu, who executed his role perfectly, anchoring the team defensively and cleanly shuffling possession in attack.
However, he was caught in possession a fair few times which led to counter attacks.
Frenkie de Jong: 9
Another day, another faultless display from Frenkie de Jong, who was the heartbeat of the win tonight. His diagonals pretty much ran the game, starting attacks and creating chances.
Raphinha: 9
Barcelona’s best outlet tonight, Raphinha was solid tonight, providing width and attacking the box with crosses and one-twos with Fermin and Kounde. Created the goal for Fermin, and then scored the second with a brilliant run at the far post.
Ferran Torres: 6
Should have done better in the box, but has to be credited with his movement and footwork around the box, which helped Barcelona retain possession and create fluid moves. Missed a sitter 1v1 late in the game.
Joao Felix: 2
Scored a goal that was wrongfully ruled offside, but otherwise a very concerning performance from Felix, whose first instinct seemed shooting instead of passing to his teammates in better positions.
Carelessly caused the corner that led to Barbastro’s goal. Was hooked for Robert Lewandowski at the 72nd minute.
SUBSTITUTES
Vitor Roque: 4
Played most of the game as a left-winger and did not do enough in that time to make a difference. When given the chance to score a 1v1, he hit the ball right at the keeper.
Inigo Martinez: N/A
Was hooked ten minutes after coming on due to a relapse in his injury.
Ilkay Gundogan: 4
Did not control the game as Xavi would have expected him to after subbing him on. Gave away a cheap corner that almost led to a goal.
Robert Lewandowski: 7
Perfectly executed the role he was introduced for, winning and scoring a penalty that put the game and Barcelona’s misery to bed.
Sergi Roberto: 6
A decent 15 minutes for Roberto, who created a chance and defended rather well.
