With the January transfer window now open for business, FC Barcelona will be exploring all possible avenues to strengthen their roster in their bid to defend the La Liga title.
Vitor Roque has already arrived at the club, but the club are also looking for a new midfielder following the injury to Gavi and Pedri’s frequent fitness problems.
The Blaugrana are looking for a way to inject cash into the club after Libero’s non-payment of the €40 million sum due for the Barça Vision deal that was agreed in the summer.
Once there is an influx of finances, the Catalan giants could go on and recruit a new midfielder, with several names linked, with Aleix Garcia of Girona being touted as the preferred candidate.
Aleix Garcia’s release clause stands at €12 million
It has been previously reported that Garcia, who is the captain of Girona, has a release clause in his contract worth €20 million.
But, as per an update from Mundo Deportivo, the clause appears to be lesser than the sum being mentioned in earlier reports.
As per the Spanish outlet, Garcia’s exit clause with Girona stands at €12 million, which might benefit Barcelona in their pursuit of the Spanish international.
It must be remembered that in the summer when talks for Oriol Romeu were underway, it was initially claimed that his release clause at Girona was €10 million. Soon after, it emerged that the figure was €5 million, and in the end Barcelona ended up signing him for just €3.8 million.
Garcia’s situation might end up being a similar one to his former teammate, as Barça line up a move for the Spaniard in the days to come.
The reigning La Liga champions are calm about the situation and are not in a hurry to make any moves right away.
After all, any second arrival this month would depend on the FFP margin, and besides that, the club insist that Garcia is not the only name on their list even though he is liked at the club.
