As Barcelona continue to prepare for life beyond Xavi, a report from SPORT has confirmed that Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has emerged as another option for the club.
The outlet mentions that a few weeks ago, the prospect of Tuchel joining Barcelona appeared highly unlikely. However, over the past few days, a newfound optimism within the Catalan club’s management suggests a possible route for exploration.
This is because Bayern are most likely to miss out on the Bundesliga title this year, forcing the German team to take serious action.
On the other hand, Tuchel, himself, is tempted to take a coaching job in La Liga. Should Barcelona approach with an enticing sporting project, there is a growing likelihood that Tuchel will contemplate this opportunity.
What is Barcelona’s preference?
Barcelona are determined not to falter in their pursuit, stressing the necessity of securing a coach with an outstanding reputation.
The preference is for someone with a track record of Champions League triumphs and in that regard, Jurgen Klopp has long been President Joan Laporta’s aspirational choice, and there is a firm belief that they can engage in discussions with the German to persuade him.
The challenge lies in the fact that Klopp is currently not considering any coaching commitments for the upcoming year. Then there is Hansi Flick who is reportedly willing to take up this project.
What about Tuchel?
Given the situation at hand, Barcelona are growing increasingly worried mostly because the team does not have the financial stability to support the new manager but despite that, they are now interested in Tuchel.
At present, Tuchel continues to face considerable tensions at Bayern and lacks a clear perspective given their position in the Bundesliga.
