In late January, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez dropped a bombshell, announcing that he would leave the club at the end of the season.
The announcement came after the Blaugrana were handed a 5-3 defeat by Villarreal at home, with Xavi stating that the team needed a change of dynamics and it would be in the best interests of everyone that he stepped away in the summer.
Since then, the 44-year-old club legend has always maintained that his decision is firm and nothing will change that.
Xavi’s decision can change
However, now, journalist Jose Alvarez is reporting that there is a possibility that Xavi’s decision to leave Barcelona at the end of the season could change any time.
The word coming out from the Barça head coach’s environment, as per the report, is “In football, you never know.”
It must be noted that despite the ups and downs, Xavi has never lost the support of club president Joan Laporta.
However, it has been claimed that things are not all too well behind the scenes between Xavi and Deco, the club’s sporting director.
Either way, Xavi has been firm in front of the media that he is not going to change his decision irrespective of what happens.
Furthermore, the Catalans are already searching for a replacement and have identified several candidates as potential successors for the club legend, with the likes of Hansi Flick and Roberto De Zerbi leading the race.
As such, the aforementioned report about Xavi’s decision likely changing must be taken with a grain of salt.
