Barcelona likely to call up 18-year-old La Masia talent for Mallorca clash – report

Barcelona’s injury crisis went from bad to worse this past weekend when the club lost Pedri and Frenkie de Jong to fresh injuries.

Both players are expected to spend a significant period on the sidelines, with Pedri, in particular, unlikely to be available for a prolonged period.

Barcelona’s prolonged injury crisis could serve as an exciting opportunity for the youth players looking to make their mark in the first.

In recent weeks, players like Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, and Marc Guiu have already become a constant presence on the team sheet.

Now, with more fresh injuries, coach Xavi Hernandez might want to bring in more youngsters into the first-team setup.

Pau Prim to called up vs Real Sociedad

To that end, SPORT suggests that Barcelona might call up Pau Prim to the first-team setup for their upcoming league game against RCD Mallorca.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Prim is one of Barcelona’s most talented youth players in his position.

Prim is known for his technical qualities, coupled with his positioning sense. He has made quite an impressive at a young age and could be ready for some professional action.

The upcoming game against Mallorca may serve as an ideal opportunity for the 18-year-old La Masia talent to make his professional debut.

Pau Prim, though, could face stiff competition from Marc Casado, another young player who has trained with the first team after Pedri and De Jong’s injury.

SPORT suggests Casado, too, could be called up to the Barcelona squad against Mallorca.

Casado is a slightly older and more experienced individual, who has represented Barcelona in the Champions League, earlier this season.

Therefore, it will be certainly interesting to see who comes out on top and makes an appearance against Real Sociedad this weekend.

Barcelona, for their part, will be counting on both players to make an impact and step up to the plate, in the absence of Pedri, Gavi, and De Jong.
