With Barcelona in the market for a new pivot midfielder in the coming summer, Everton star Amadou Onana is seen as one of the club’s top targets.
The 22-year-old Belgian international has made a name for himself in the Premier League over the past couple of seasons despite his team’s struggles.
And a big move could be on the horizon for Onana come summer, with Barcelona keen on securing his services, along with some other top teams.
Onana excited about Barcelona interest, ready to wait
Now, SPORT’s Toni Juanmarti reports that Onana and his entourage are aware of Barcelona’s strong interest in him. The Everton midfield star is understood to be excited about the possibility of wearing the Blaugrana jersey.
As such, he will prioritise a move to Barcelona next summer and is prepared to wait for the Catalans for as long as he can.
This stance comes even though Onana is attracting interest from Premier League title contenders Arsenal, who would be in a position to meet his €60 million price tag and offer him a more lucrative contract.
Irrespective of that, though, the Everton ace is prepared to wait for Barcelona for as long as he can hold on.
Afterwards, if it turns out that the Catalans do not have the financial wherewithal to pull off the operation, only then will he consider his other options.
Player-exchange deal a possibility
As mentioned above, Onana has a valuation of €60 million slapped on him by Everton – a figure Barcelona are in no position to match.
If the Toffees were to be relegated from the Premier League, the asking price would drop to €40 million – still a difficult figure for the Blaugrana to reach.
As such, there is a possibility that the Catalans could offer a player as part of the deal, with names like Sergino Dest, Clement Lenglet, Ansu Fati, and Fermin Lopez being considered.
