Barcelona president Joan Laporta granted a detailed interview to Mundo Deportivo this week, during which he discussed a plethora of subjects pertaining to the club.
During the chat, Laporta admitted that he still wishes for Xavi Hernandez to stay beyond the end of the season while also issuing a warning to Real Madrid about their possible signing of Kylian Mbappe.
Hopeful about success
Furthermore, the Barcelona president expressed great optimism that the team can still win the La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles.
Over the past month, the Blaugrana have improved their form a great deal, moving to second place in La Liga and making it through to the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
Following the 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid before the international break, Xavi stated that it was time for Barça to dream again, and Laporta echoed his manager’s statements.
“This is not a fantasy. We can dream. Today I think we can say that, finally, that this whole process that this team has followed leads us to be able to dream, as the coach said. It is a fantasy that can come true!”
“We are alive in La Liga and the Champions League. I expected this at the beginning of the season,” he added.
Further insisting that he and many others believe in this Barcelona team, Laporta insisted that they will achieve success, saying:
“I’m not the only one who believes in this Barça. There are many of us who believe. I believe that you have to believe. If you’re in football, you have to believe in your chances, that the work you do will bear fruit.”
“I am final, very encouraged, very hopeful, working very hard to achieve what we have set out to do this year, which is not easy. I am referring to the sporting level,” Laporta added.
