As Barcelona prepare for their upcoming La Liga game against Las Palmas on Sunday night, two key players, Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen, are seen as doubts for the contest.
Araujo returned from the international break with minor physical discomfort and did not train with the rest of the group on Wednesday or Thursday.
As for Christensen, the 27-year-old pulled out of the Atletico Madrid clash before the international break due to Achilles discomfort and did not play for Denmark during the break either.
Maximum precaution with Christensen
Christensen has not participated in team training since the players returned from the international break this week either.
As such, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona are taking maximum precaution with the Danish international so that they can have him 100% fit for the PSG clash next month.
The Achilles tendon discomfort that kept him out against Atletico Madrid still persists and as such, Barcelona are unlikely to take any risks with him for this weekend’s clash against Las Palmas.
Christensen has become a key member for Xavi, more so with his shift to the defensive midfield position in the past couple of months.
Hence, having him fully fit and ready for the crucial UEFA Champions League quarterfinals first leg against PSG on April 10 takes precedence over rushing him back against Las Palmas.
What about Araujo?
As for Araujo, unlike Christensen, he did some individual work on the grass on Thursday. There are not many concerns about his situation.
A more concrete update on his condition could emerge on Saturday, although it is likely that he too is rested by Xavi Hernandez to have him fit and fresh for PSG.
