Barcelona youngsters Hector Fort and Marc Guiu have stated that winning the UEFA Champions League with the Blaugrana is a dream for the duo.
Speaking in a fun interaction with the club’s official channel, Fort began by laying down the importance of La Masia, saying all the years he spent at the academy will go down as his best memory.
“I will not choose just one, I will mention all the years at La Masia, we have the same memories, all the friends, all the trips, all the hotels, the tournaments, everything,” he said when asked to choose his most special memory at Barcelona.
“La Masia is our home, we have been here for 11 years, more than half our lives. We live and learn the values that we maintain until today,” he added.
Furthermore, while talking about his role model, Fort mentioned none other than the legendary Barcelona captain, Carles Puyol.
“I would choose Puyol because of the way he lived the crest, his feeling and sense of Barcelona’s colours and how he defended it. He is unique and admirable. I think we should all be like him and I hope I can be like him one day,” he explained.
Furthermore, when asked about the dreams he wanted to achieve at Barcelona, the young full-back pressed on winning the Champions League and playing as many matches as possible at Camp Nou.
“I have several dreams, one of which is to win the Champions League with Barcelona. I also want to play as many matches as possible at Camp Nou,” he said.
Guiu shares the same dream
Guiu burst onto the scene in late October when he came on as a late substitute against Athletic Bilbao, eventually scoring the winner in a 1-0 win for his team.
In December, he scored his first Champions League goal against Royal Antwerp and speaking about the same, the 18-year-old mentioned he did not expect that he would play in that match.
“I didn’t even expect to play that day. I was very happy. We didn’t win, but that’s okay. I still have the memory of scoring that goal. When I saw [Ilkay] Gundogan’s cross, I took the opportunity and scored,” he said.
Sharing the dream he wants to achieve at Barcelona, he added, “I think the Champions League is the most important tournament for everyone and we hope we can win it.”
Lastly, he also shared his thoughts on Xavi and revealed that the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Ronald Araujo were among other players who helped him a lot.
“All my teammates helped me from the first moment, Lewandowski, Araujo… everyone,” Guiu said.
“I think Xavi is a good coach for Barcelona. We have a lot of fun with him, especially us youngsters because he gives us a lot of opportunities,” he added.
