Manchester United weighing up £25 million summer move for Barcelona teenager – report

Barcelona’s factory of talents, La Masia, has rarely ever disappointed when it comes to churning out generational prodigies.

But to broaden their scope, the Catalan giants have lately kept their eyes peeled out for ascending talents from foreign areas before they hit the big leagues.

Pedri, Ronald Araujo, and Julian Araujo are prime examples. And now the emergence of Mika Faye signals Barcelona’s commitment to scouting talents from diverse backgrounds.

Having signed Faye from NK Kustosija last summer, their investment in the centre-back is gradually yielding fruit.

Indeed, Faye has looked impressive at Barcelona Atletic and most recently scored a scorcher on his debut with the Senegal national team.

Faye turning heads

Unsurprisingly, Faye is luring attention from elite European sides following his recent rise to prominence.

Now, as per Fichajes, Manchester United are contemplating putting in an offer for the Senegalese teenager, with a possible £25 million transfer fee at stake.

The report argues that purchasing Faye would be a long-term investment for the Red Devils as they seek to improve their defence and revitalize their team.

In fact, they are ready to battle it out with other European clubs who are similarly interested in acquiring the youngster’s signature.

But with the increased interest in Faye, the Catalan giants might try to raise the asking price. The possibility of retaining his services, just as they did in January, is not ruled out.

A man in demand

The 19-year-old has reportedly been monitored by a number of teams, including Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen.

Additionally, it was rumoured that Nice and Lens made offers for the centre-back during the winter transfer window, but Barcelona turned them down.

With Manchester United and other sides eyeing young Faye, Barcelona could improve their finances with his sale, but time will tell whether the Blaugranes cash out or hang on to him.
