Mika Faye has been making all the right noises in his first year at FC Barcelona. Currently part of the Barça Atletic squad under Rafa Marquez, the 19-year-old talent has made a notable impression in Catalonia.
The last international break saw the young centre-half even make his debut for the Senegalese national team and shine brightly with a stunning goal.
Faye’s progress and vast potential has caught the eyes of several top clubs across Europe, who could make a move for him in the summer.
Faye not ruling out summer exit
Now, Mundo Deportivo has come forward with an update on the future of Faye at Barcelona.
As has already been reported, the 19-year-old defensive prodigy dreams of making a first-team breakthrough at the Catalan outfit.
However, at the same time, he understands that there is not much space in the senior setup at this point with there being a plethora of options at manager Xavi Hernandez’s disposal already.
As such, the Senegalese is clear that if there is no chance of playing in the first team he intends to accept offers that would arrive in the summer.
It must be noted that Faye had already received proposals from the likes of Girona and RC Lens in January, which were turned down by Barça.
Those clubs retain an interest in the youngster, with more teams like Juventus, Manchester United, and Chelsea also joining the list of his admirers.
Barcelona mulling over their options
At Barcelona, they are aware that Faye is an exciting talent and that he is attracting interest from several European clubs.
And given the overbooking of central defenders in the senior squad, the Catalans are not entirely ruling out the possibility of parting ways with Faye in the summer.
But the nature of the deal for his exit is being mulled over, with Barcelona considering whether to loan him out or sell him outright but with a buyback option.
A lot could also depend on the manager who arrives at the club in the summer, provided Xavi does not change his mind and opts to leave.
