The clash against PSG in the quarter-finals of the Champions League brings with it two reunion lores, the recent one of which is the return of Ousmane Dembele, who moved to the French capital in the summer.
However, more important than that is Luis Enrique’s return to his home, the Catalan capital, Barcelona. The treble-winning coach left the Catalans in 2017 after a three-year tenure, and currently coaches PSG.
“Playing against Barcelona is difficult, but at the same time it is an incentive. I want to play a big role, I want my team to win. I want to show them and myself that as a person I am at the highest level,” Lucho said ahead of the game, quoted by PSG.
Enrique sounded confident ahead of the game, saying, “Barcelona is a club with a high level, in a collective way, it is a good team, it will be very difficult. But, I think we are at a very high level and good form, and I am convinced that we can eliminate them.”
No pressure on PSG
Despite not having won the Champions League since their inception, Lucho believes that all the pressure is on Barcelona for this game.
“There is no pressure in the Champions League. On the contrary, Barcelona won five Champions League, and we have won zero. It is impossible for them to have more hope than us. Impossible, and the pressure is definitely not on us.”
He went on to explain, in a layman’s sense, how PSG plan to approach this game, claiming that the players will be more important than the coaches.
“Our goal is clear. We will try to control Barcelona here and there, and use our weapons. If there is a time when we cannot keep the ball, we must also be able to defend without the ball, and cause problems for the opponent.”
“The coaches are not going to win this match, the teams and the players are going to win, and I think it will be a great match.”
