Barcelona academy graduate Ansu Fati finds himself in limbo with regard to his future yet again as his loan stint at Brighton & Hove Albion nears its completion.
The 21-year-old forward was once touted as the future of the club and was even handed the iconic No. 10 jersey following Lionel Messi’s departure.
But injuries and inconsistent form combined to force him out of Xavi’s plans, leading to a loan move to Brighton last summer, where things have not gone much better for the Spaniard.
Ansu Fati intends to return and stay at Barcelona
Given how things have gone, Barcelona have no plans of reintegrating Ansu Fati into the squad for next season. Instead, the Catalans are exploring options to permanently offload him or loan him out again.
However, according to journalist Sique Rodriguez on SER, Ansu has different ideas.
The 21-year-old La Masia graduate intends to return to Barcelona and do pre-season under Xavi with the idea of staying put at the club for the next campaign.
Fati, for his part, strongly believes that he can convince Xavi during the pre-season, especially with Barcelona looking for a new left-forward.
Barcelona have other plans
Barcelona, though, view things very differently as they are of the idea of offloading Fati and fellow loanee Clement Lenglet to Saudi Arabia to generate revenue.
If that scenario fails, the Blaugrana would not oppose another loan stint, with Sevilla seen as a favourable destination for Fati by the club.
Given the number of forwards already at the club and there being plans to sign a new left winger, it is hard to imagine Ansu finding a place in Xavi’s plans for next season despite his intentions.
