Dani Olmo of RB Leipzig is one of the targets for FC Barcelona to strengthen their attacking unit for next season.
The 26-year-old former La Masia trainee has enjoyed a lot of success in Germany and could be ready to take the next step in his career this summer.
And a return to his boyhood club Barça is understood to appeal to Olmo, while the Catalans themselves are eager to sign him to strengthen their options on the left flank.
However, competition for Olmo’s services seems to be growing rapidly, with a number of other top European clubs also vying to sign him.
Premier League heavyweights want Olmo
Indeed, as per Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have shown interest in signing Olmo from RB Leipzig in the summer.
It must be noted that Barcelona were already facing competition from Bayern Munich in the race for the 26-year-old and things have now gotten more intense with three Premier League giants entering the race.
As per the report, Olmo would be willing to return to Barça but needs the club to take the first step.
Finances an issue
Barcelona sporting director Deco has already given his approval for a deal for Olmo in the summer.
The sporting director considers him to be a player at the ideal age to make the leap to a big club and likes him for his versatile profile, who can play in four positions
However, Olmo has a release clause worth €60 million in his contract with Leipzig, something that could become an issue for Barcelona. But the other suitors are unlikely to see that valuation as a challenge.
In order to be able to sign Olmo, Barça must first balance the numbers so that La Liga can give them the 1:1 approval and then have the muscle to be able to afford the signing. And for that to happen, the club need to sell a top player.
But Olmo needs tangible proof that the move can go ahead. The forward is willing to do his part and believes that if he asks Leipzig to leave for Barcelona, the German club would facilitate the operation. But Barça must take the first step.
