Barcelona identify two strikers to replace Lewandowski – report

Barcelona’s interest in Darwin Nunez as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski has been gathering significant attention.

According to reports from TV3, Nunez is at the top of Barcelona’s list of potential targets to rejuvenate their attacking options. Meanwhile, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has also emerged as an alternative option for the club.

A few weeks ago, news surfaced about Barcelona’s intentions to bring in the Liverpool forward to bolster their offensive lineup.

This sparked further speculation in England, where reports indicated that the Uruguayan international was being considered as a successor to Lewandowski.

Agent Araujo?

Amidst these ongoing rumours, Nunez recently travelled to Barcelona, where he met with Ronald Araujo, a fellow Uruguayan national team player.

Araujo shared a photo on Instagram of him and Nunez, captioned “My brother” with a heart emoji, emphasizing their close friendship.

This connection between the two players has only fueled more rumours about Nunez potentially joining Barcelona.

Adding to the intrigue, Nunez recently wiped his Instagram of all photos featuring him in Liverpool’s red jersey.

Now, his social media profile mainly showcases family photos, along with images from his time with the Uruguayan national team and his former clubs, such as Benfica, Almeria, and Penarol.

Is Lewandowski leaving Barcelona?

While the situation surrounding Lewandowski’s potential departure remains uncertain, the strong bond between Nunez and Araujo may play a role in bringing the forward closer to Barcelona.

The presence of Araujo could serve as an added incentive for him to make the move, as he would have a trusted friend and teammate already at the club.

As for Lewandowski, it is suggested that Atletico Madrid are closely monitoring his situation as they prepare for the summer transfer window.

The team from the Spanish capital has been linked with a possible interest in the striker, and there are rumours that they may reach out to Barcelona to discuss a potential transfer.

Additionally, reports suggest that Barcelona and Atletico might consider a swap deal involving Lewandowski and Joao Felix as well.
