According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are considering loaning out Vitor Roque to an important club, even though there has been a major change within the team.
Roque’s future at Barcelona has become a hot topic. The Brazilian forward joined the team in January, benefiting from the salary space created by Gavi’s injury, however, he did not get much playing time towards the end of the season.
Back when Xavi was in charge, it seemed very likely that he would leave in the summer, either on loan or through a permanent transfer.
In response to this situation, Andre Cury, Roque’s agent, made some strong statements during the season. He even threatened to look for a permanent transfer for Roque if the situation did not improve.
He also dismissed the idea of a possible loan, but this has not caused much concern for Barcelona’s sports management team. They know Roque has a contract with the club until June 2031.
Barcelona in conundrum
As of now, even though Roque hasn’t had enough time on the field under Xavi, he continues to attract attention from clubs across Europe. Reports indicate that three clubs are particularly interested in his situation at Barcelona.
Currently, Roque is willing to try again under the new manager, Hansi Flick. However, if things do not improve, Barcelona are open to the idea of sending him on loan.
The forward and his agent are against this plan because they believe that a loan with a return date would harm his development and future prospects.
Interestingly, there have been cases where players had successful loan periods, like Ez Abde. However, despite his success during the loan, he still did not secure a spot in Barcelona’s first team and was eventually sold.
For what it is worth, a decision about Roque’s future is expected to be made in a few weeks and for that, the Barcelona board are expected to consult with Flick.
