After having tied down youngsters like Pau Cubarsi and Hector Fort to new contracts, Barcelona are now set to renew another La Masia prospect.
Indeed, as per Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have reached a verbal agreement with midfield prospect Marc Casado over a new contract until the summer of 2027.
Casado, the current captain of Barça Atletic, has been in and around the first-team setup for the past year or so, but has not been given a great number of opportunities.
But with his contract expiring on June 30, the Blaugrana have been in talks with the young Spaniard to renew his deal for some time now.
Now, it appears that the renewal is on the horizon, with both parties reaching a verbal agreement and the deal will be signed as soon as the final details are sorted out.
So far, Casado has made five appearances for Barcelona but with the Catalans seeking a new defensive pivot in the summer, the 20-year-old could provide an in-house solution.
With a new manager in Hansi Flick now in the hotseat, Casado will hope to make an impression on the German tactician during pre-season so as to earn a regular spot in the senior setup.
It has already been reported that Flick has his eyes on Casado, along with a few other young La Masia talents heading into the pre-season.
And, the 20-year-old Barça Atletic captain will want to win over the new manager and hope to gain greater opportunities than he did under the previous management.
