- Sarina Wiegman names 28-player squad for Euro 2025 qualifiers
- England face France home and away, Republic of Ireland and Sweden other fixtures
- Millie Bright returns to the squad for the first time in 2024 following injury
Millie Bright, Lauren James and Beth Mead are among the 28 players called up by England manager Sarina Wiegman for the upcoming Euro 2025 qualifiers against France, Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.
The Lionesses currently sit second in Group A3 after a win and a draw against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden back in April. Wiegman's side will now take on France at St James' Park on May 31 before the reverse fixture in Saint-Etienne on June 4.
In the July internationals, the qualifying group stage will conclude with a home fixture against the Republic of Ireland and an away trip to Sweden. The squad for both rounds of fixtures will be formed from the 28 players named.
After clinching the trophy in 2022, England will hope to replicate their success next summer when the tournament kicks off in Switzerland. Matches will be staged across the country with Zurich, Geneva, Basel and Bern among the host cities.
But first, they must navigate a difficult qualifying group that includes 2023 World Cup semi-finalists Sweden and quarter-finalists France. England will need to finish in the top two of their group to secure a spot at next year's tournament and avoid qualifier play-offs.
The squad named for the double-header against France, as well as the games against Sweden and the Republic of Ireland, is largely unchanged from the April fixtures against Sweden and the Republic of Ireland. However, Rachel Daly is not included following her recent international retirement - Aggie Beever-Jones has been called up in her place.
Millie Bright also returns to the squad for the first time in 2024 after missing out on the last few camps through injury. The standby list includes Southampton goalkeeper Kayla Rendell, Manchester United defender Maya Le Tissier, Liverpool midfielder Missy Bo Kearns and Tottenham forward Jess Naz.
