Barcelona manager Xavi opted for tight lips when pressed about the destiny of young talent Ansu Fati, who is presently on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion.
Xavi’s stance over Ansu’s future is clear: the matter will be deliberated upon come season’s end.
“It is time to think about the end of the League. With those on loan we will decide at the end of the season depending on the situation we are in,” said the manager ahead of the Real Sociedad clash as quoted by SPORT.
In essence, Xavi hinted at the looming closure of the league season being the pivotal juncture for decisions regarding loaned players, Ansu included.
The manager, while refraining from a definitive stance on Ansu’s fate, did not entirely discount the possibility of the youngster’s return.
Barcelona need to make a decision
It is indisputable that Ansu’s stint at Brighton has not yielded the desired fruits for any involved party.
Hence, the importance of making an informed choice regarding his trajectory going forward cannot be overstated.
Across this campaign, Ansu has graced the Brighton jersey in 25 matches, netting four times and assisting once. However, his role has been peripheral in a team that has nestled comfortably within the mid-table of the Premier League.
Ansu Fati wants to be included in pre-season
Ansu himself is eager for a chance to prove himself during the pre-season, aiming to join the team for their travels to the United States.
However, decisions will be influenced by financial regulations and squad composition priorities, primarily focusing on key positions like midfielders and wingers.
What is evident is that Brighton has seemingly closed the chapter on Ansu’s tenure. Manager Roberto De Zerbi, aware of an imminent departure, has benched the youngster for the last three fixtures, with no indication of a shift in this stance.
