Sources close to the club have informed Barça Universal that Barcelona’s new manager, Hansi Flick, believes he can bring out the best in Robert Lewandowski.
Since joining Barcelona in 2022, Lewandowski has scored 59 goals in two seasons and despite this impressive record, he has faced some rough patches, and the team has not achieved all the goals set at the start of the season.
Now, Lewandowski is set to reunite with Flick, the coach who turned him into a goal-scoring machine at Bayern Munich, and the duo now hopes to recreate that success at Barcelona.
Barcelona’s problems hindered Lewandowski this season
At almost 36 years old, Lewandowski has defied the odds to remain competitive. This season, he fought hard for the Pichichi Trophy, but despite his efforts, he was ultimately overtaken by Artem Dovbyk, who scored 24 goals.
Tactical challenges marked Barcelona’s failure this season, as it took a long time for the coaching staff to establish a stable and reliable attack as throughout the season, there was a struggle to decide between Joao Felix, Ferran Torres, and Raphinha for the winger position.
Despite these challenges and the fact that this season he has been substituted more times than any other season in his career—15 times, matching his record from the 2011-12 season with Dortmund—Lewandowski has been a key player.
Flick ready to unleash Lewandowski
Meanwhile, under Flick’s management at Bayern Munich, Lewandowski was arguably the best footballer in Europe during the 2019-2020 season when Bayern won six trophies. His incredible tally of 55 goals that season was instrumental in achieving this historic feat.
During Flick’s tenure, Lewandowski scored an astounding 83 goals in just 71 matches and provided 22 assists.
Now, at Barcelona, Flick and Lewandowski hope to replicate their past success. With Flick’s confidence and tactical acumen, combined with Lewandowski’s proven goal-scoring ability, there is optimism that they can achieve great things together.
