Lamine Yamal talks following MOTM performance vs Real Sociedad

Lamine Yamal assumed the pivotal responsibility of initiating the scoring at Montjuïc during Barça’s clash against Real Sociedad.

Xavi’s adept squad, positioned third in the league standings with a game in hand over Girona and trailing by two points, were eager for triumph to reclaim the second spot and secure a place in the Spanish Super Cup.

In the 40th minute, Robert Lewandowski’s deft assist and Ilkay Gundogan’s capitalization on the available space executed a decisive play in a two-on-one scenario, thereby presenting the opportunity to Yamal.

With finesse, Yamal executed a delicate left-footed strike, guiding the ball effortlessly into the back of the net, almost akin to a calculated pass.

“Robert’s pass in my goal was quality. Gündo then showed his best quality. All I had to do was tap it in,” said Yamal, the MVP of the match, about the goal as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“It was difficult at first, but little by little we got into it and it worked out well,” he added.

The highlight of the goal, marking Yamal’s seventh of the season and elevating him to the sixth position among the team’s top scorers, unfolded during the celebration.

After the goal, the number ’27’ for Barça directed his gaze towards the photographers, imprinting the iconic ‘shrug’ gesture—a celebratory nod famously associated with Michael Jordan during the 90s.

“It was very important to win here and get back to second place,” added the youngster.

Meanwhile, after the match, Yamal and Lewandowski were seen discussing something and when asked about it, the youngster revealed,

“After the match Lewandowski and I commented on some plays that we thought were pretty funny. We all have a great relationship in the dressing room.”
