Reason why Barcelona are yet to Hansi Flick appointment – report

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are finalising the details of Xavi’s contract before announcing Hansi Flick as their new manager, which explains why there has not been any official communication from the team yet.

The report mentions that Flick was supposed to arrive in Barcelona on Monday to sign his contract. However, this plan has been delayed because Barcelona decided to finish the work at hand.

Initially, the club had planned to announce Flick during yesterday’s match against Sevilla, but the decision was made to hold off on this plan until all matters regarding Xavi’s departure were resolved.

Barcelona hoping for a smooth process

It is said that the club is optimistic that there won’t be any major issues finalising an agreement with Xavi.

Before the match against Sevilla, Xavi assured the club that he would not cause any problems with his contract if he didn’t continue as the coach.

Nevertheless, since Xavi still has a valid contract, proper procedures need to be followed and this involves not only his contract but also those of his technical staff, and these technicalities must be managed correctly.

When will Barcelona announce new manager?

What remains uncertain is whether Barcelona will announce Flick’s hiring even if he does not physically come to Barcelona on Monday.

It is clear, though, that there won’t be a press conference or an official presentation for the German coach when his hiring is announced. The format for introducing the new coach, who will sign a two-year contract, has not been determined yet.

Most likely, once the club deems it appropriate, they will announce Flick’s hiring through an official statement on their website and social media channels. His first public appearance as Barça’s coach could be a message through the club’s media platforms.

At this time, the club has ruled out a traditional press conference to introduce the new coach as even Flick wants to fully understand Barcelona’s current sporting and financial situation before making any public appearances.
