When will Barcelona learn their Financial Fair Play fate from La Liga?

After going trophyless in the 2023/24 season, Barcelona are aware that there is a lot of work to be done before the next campaign and everything starts with a successful transfer window.

As such, the upcoming summer is set to be a hugely critical one for the Catalan giants as they look to restructure their squad and build a unit that can go toe-to-toe with arch-rivals Real Madrid and compete stronger in Europe.

However, everything will depend on the situation Barcelona find themselves in with regard to La Liga’s Financial Fair Play regulations and the margin they are given to operate in the summer.

When will Barcelona know their fate?

Now, a fresh report from Mundo Deportivo has highlighted that the first days of June will be key in the immediate future of FC Barcelona.

That is when La Liga will inform the Blaugrana and the rest of the clubs of their margin for action and financial fair play in the next transfer window, which starts on 1 July.

The margin responds to the documentation that Barcelona sent to the league at the end of April. There are several parameters that the Catalans submitted and all of them are under the criteria of ‘fair play’ that La Liga has established for all the teams.

Starting with the profit and loss account for the 2024-2025 season, Barça also presented their cash budget and the investment and divestment estimates for the coming season. The information is completed with the financial plan for the upcoming campaign.

In a matter of weeks, Barcelona will know the margin for action. Right now, initially, the club will have to continue to abide by the 50% rule, i.e., they can only use 50% of each sale of a player in a new registration.

But the club is confident of reverting to the 1-1 rule after the documentation submitted to La Liga.
