According to a report from Sky Sports (h/t Serem FCB), Barcelona have identified Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva as their top targets for the upcoming season.

The club is hoping to keep Cancelo on loan for another year, while President Joan Laporta has set his sights on bringing Bernardo Silva to the team.

However, the negotiations for these deals are still in their early stages.

Barcelona have been actively pursuing new players for the next season and with the deal for Felix nearly finalized, the club is now focusing on securing the future of Cancelo.

The Portuguese full-back does not seem to fit into Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester City for the next season and the Premier League champions are reportedly open to letting him go.

Despite this, however, the situation is not entirely simple for Barcelona.

Barcelona rate Cancelo highly

Cancelo is highly regarded at Barcelona, having made a significant impact during his time with the club.

He is seen as a leader on the team. However, Barcelona’s financial troubles prevent them from making a large purchase. This is why they are asking to extend his loan.

There are rumours that Manchester City are unwilling to agree to another loan deal as they prefer to sell Cancelo permanently to cut ties with him completely. This is where the parties involved need to evaluate the situation.

There is a plan in place for Bernardo

As for Bernardo, he has been a long-term target for Barcelona. This summer, it seems more likely that they can secure his transfer, even with the club’s ongoing financial issues.

Reports suggest that Barcelona have devised a plan to sign him. They intend to pay a total of €58 million, split into three payments of €19 million each, spread out until 2025.

Although nothing has been finalised yet, the pace of these negotiations could accelerate as the transfer market heats up.

Barcelona’s interest in both players is clear, and they are working hard to overcome their financial constraints to make these deals happen.
