Barcelona will sit down and talk with Girona over four player operations – report

Barcelona and Girona were heavily involved in player transfers last summer. While Oriol Romeu made the move to Xavi’s side, Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre made the move to Michel’s setup and enjoyed a great season.

After a stunning league campaign where they finished third, Girona are gearing up for the UEFA Champions League next season. Unsurprisingly, they are now pushing for the continuity of the players Barcelona loaned them a year ago.

Negotiations to begin

As revealed in a recent report by Mundo Deportivo, Girona are interested in negotiating three player transfers with Barcelona – Oriol Romeu, Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre.

The former, whose stint at Barcelona did not go to plan, has his future dependant on the decision of Hansi Flick. All signs, however, point to him leaving and Girona are open to the possibility.

Garcia, meanwhile, has enjoyed a stunning campaign at Montilivi and is even excited to play the UCL with Michel’s side next season. The club management reciprocates the interest to continue working together.

He does not see a return to Barcelona with bad eyes, but the competition at the club gives him reason to believe he will not see prominence. With Xavi no longer at the club, Garcia’s departure to Girona is not ruled out this summer.

The central defender’s loan agreement did not include a clause to purchase, however, and the negotiations thus could take a while.

Pablo Torre, the second player who was on loan at Girona, has also seemingly done enough to convince the team to extend his loan.

The two Catalans clubs have opened conversations over the deals in question and will negotiate the economics in the coming days. The report even adds that young Mikayil Faye could be on Girona’s radar.

Barcelona’s return ‘gift’

While Barcelona were initially linked with some Girona players including Aleix Garcia, they now do not appear to have any direct targets at Montilivi. The one transaction they wish to negotiate with the club, however, is that of Pau Victor.

The 22-year-old striker arrived last summer on a loan to Barça Atletic and enjoyed a superb first season at the club. He scored 18 goals in 35 appearances and was the top scorer in the team.

Barcelona have a €3 million purchase option for the player and desperately wish for his continuity. However, they do not wish to transact in cash and hope to secure the youngster’s transfer through a player exchange and mutual understanding.
