Barcelona young full-back that Xavi liked in the dark over his future

Barcelona youngster Alex Valle, currently on loan at UD Levante, is unaware of what the club has planned for his future, reports Mundo Deportivo.

A graduate of the Catalans’ La Masia youth setup, Valle’s first-team experience came in unofficial matches before the last season, following which he was sent out on loan to Levante.

Xavi liked Alex Valle

Heading into the next season, with the departure of Marcos Alonso all but guaranteed, the left-back position in the Barcelona squad will be left short-handed.

When Xavi was still in charge of the team, his planning for the 2024/25 season had Alejandro Balde as the first-choice left-back with Alex Valle operating as the backup in the position.

Given the club’s fragile economic situation, signing a new replacement for Alonso is going to be a challenge, and as such, Xavi believed Valle could be the solution.

The former manager liked the academy graduate and had handed him minutes against AC Milan on the pre-season tour last summer while also planning to include him in his setup for next season.

Future uncertain

However, now, Valle is staring at an uncertain future at Barcelona, following the change in management as Hansi Flick has now replaced Xavi as the head coach.

The defender, who during the season had received a visit from the Barça football coordinator Bojan Krkic, has not heard anything from the club and is awaiting news as he plays his last game for Levante in the second division this weekend.

Valle will return to Barcelona in the coming weeks and will likely be given a chance in pre-season, especially with Alejandro Balde recovering from an injury, before a decision is made.
