Gabriel Sans, in his report for Mundo Deportivo, sheds light on Pablo Torre’s contemplation of his immediate future, saying that the young midfielder is pondering between two options: returning to Barcelona or extending his stay in Girona.
The uncertainty surrounding Torre’s fate with Barcelona stems from the crowded midfield landscape, featuring the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Frenkie De Jong, alongside the looming possibility of the club securing one or two additional signings.
Interestingly, speculation concerning Torre’s fate echoes the fate of other Barcelona players currently within the squad, those on loan, and those from the reserve team.
Hansi Flick and the sports management team are poised to assess this situation, but regardless, Torre has distilled his options down to just two.
Girona like Torre
Notably, Girona lack any option to purchase Torre outright, thus potentially pursuing another loan stint, though they remain aware of their capability to contend with a compelling offer.
Although Torre didn’t cement himself as a consistent starter during his tenure at Girona, manager Michel highly regards his technical prowess and offensive vision, particularly in the critical final phases of the game.
His involvement increased progressively as the season unfolded, fostering a sense of comfort within the team. Additionally, the tantalising prospect of featuring in the Champions League holds considerable allure for him.
Problems for Torre at Barcelona are plenty
It is said that Barcelona’s strategic aim revolves around securing a midfield stalwart, potentially two if Oriol Romeu departs permanently.
They also entertain the idea of acquiring an interior player, contingent upon their flexibility in the transfer market. However, the presence of an already-stacked midfield may potentially limit Torre’s opportunities once more.
Consequently, Torre has contemplated the possibility of remaining at Girona. The respective parties, including Barcelona, Girona, and their representatives, are actively engaged in discussions toward this end, although a definitive agreement has yet to materialise.
Meanwhile, it is to be noted that while intermediary proposals from Second Division clubs have reached Barcelona’s offices, formal offers from First Division entities have yet to materialise for the player.
