Barcelona have faced a challenging season, falling short of the goals they set at the beginning.
However, there is a significant silver lining: the rise of several young players from their famed youth academy, La Masia. These players have not only performed well on the field but have also helped the club maintain its overall market value.
A report from Mundo Deportivo highlights the emergence of young talents like Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez, Hector Fort, and Marc Guiu, as these players have been crucial in keeping Barcelona’s market value stable despite the tough season.
Increase in market value for some
The outlet mentions that the club’s total market value has only decreased by €7.4 million, from €846.6 million to €839 million.
This small drop is largely thanks to the contributions of these young players, who have ensured that Barcelona remain one of the most highly valued squads in the world.
Yamal, for instance, saw his market value soar by €50 million, jumping from €25 million to €75 million. Cubarsi’s value increased to €25 million, Fermin’s to €15 million, and both Hector Fort and Marc Guiu saw their values rise to €7.5 million each.
In addition to these La Masia graduates, other players have also seen their market values increase.
Inaki Pena, for example, doubled his market value from €4 million to €8 million. Vitor Roque, a new signing, saw his market value rise from €32 million to €40 million, reflecting his strong start to the season.
Hike is not for everyone
However, not all players experienced an increase in value. Alejandro Balde, Jules Kounde, and Raphinha each saw their market values decrease by €10 million.
The most significant drops were experienced by Joao Cancelo, Joao Felix, and Pedri, each losing €20 million in market value. Robert Lewandowski also saw his market value decline by €15 million, primarily due to his age.
Interestingly, only three players in the Barcelona squad have maintained their market value since the start of the season: Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, and Gavi. Gavi, in particular, remains highly valued with an estimated market value of €90 million.
