Barcelona are gearing up for a busy summer ahead, with new coach Hansi Flick specifically looking for reinforcements in the attacking unit.
Although star striker Robert Lewandowski will continue, Barça will be open to signing a new striker, especially amid uncertainty over the future of Vitor Roque.
Barcelona have been recently linked with moves for Kingsley Coman and Luis Diaz, but both operations appear unlikely.
Julian Alvarez wants to play in La Liga
Barcelona, though, have no shortage of options in the transfer market. In fact, El Chiringuito reports that Julian Alvarez is open to playing in La Liga.
This comes on the back of Alvarez’s limited game-time at Man City, with the Argentine falling behind the likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and others, in the pecking order.
In fact, coach Pep Guardiola has often played Alvarez in a variety of roles. Although a tally of 19 goals and 13 assists is certainly impressive, one cannot blame the attacker for wanting to move elsewhere.
Can Barcelona be an option?
Alvarez’s desire to play in La Liga could be a potential market opportunity for FC Barcelona as they look to beef up their ranks in attack.
If Alvarez joins a top team, Barcelona would certainly be a preferable option as the Argentine would face a familiar problem at Real Madrid – lack of game-time.
Indeed, the Whites are stacked in attack right now, especially after the recent arrival of Kylian Mbappe. Alvarez must also compete with the likes of Arda Guler, Endrick, Rodrygo and Vinicius for a place in the starting eleven.
Keeping that in mind, a move to Barcelona appears far more logical. Alvarez, after all, stands an excellent chance of not only becoming an important player in Hansi Flick’s setup but also replacing Lewandowski in the years to come.
