- Manchester City agree club-record sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid
- La Liga side to pay €95m (£81.5m) if all add-ons are met
- Atletico looking to sell striker Samu Omorodion to Chelsea to finance deal
Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Manchester City over the transfer of Julian Alvarez, a report has claimed.
The Argentine is in line to become City's record sale, with a fee of £81.5m (€95m) including add-ons agreed with Atletico.
The Athletic, who first broke news of advanced talks between Atleti and the Cityzens on Monday, report the two clubs have finalised a deal.
Alvarez will now discuss personal terms over a move to the Estadio Metropolitano and the expectation is he will give the green light to the transfer. The 24-year-old has been vocal of his desire for more game time in recent weeks, despite playing 103 matches across his two seasons at City scoring 36 goals.
City signed Alvarez from River Plate in 2022 for only £14m and stand to make nearly six times that amount back if all add-ons are met.
It was widely reported earlier this week that Atletico had changed their minds over selling young striker Samu Omorodion to Chelsea for roughly £34.4m, thus allowing them the freedom to pursue Alvarez with more aggression. Atletico rejected a £27.4m bid from the Blues for the 20-year-old in June, but that deal is back on and could soon be finalised.
Meanwhile, Atletico are closing in on the signing of Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is expected to travel to Spain for a medical shortly after giving his approval to a move.
Gallagher has one year left to run on his Blues deal and will join the Spanish side for £34.2m. Atletico have already forked out £29.6m on Real Sociedad centre-back Robin Le Normand and £27.5m on Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth.
