Cristiano Ronaldo has launched his own personal YouTube presence, taking his already colossal social media presence onto yet another platform.

Ronaldo has north of 900m followers across Facebook, X and Instagram and is now attempting to take YouTube by storm. As his channel, titled UR Cristiano, launched on Wednesday, it drew in excess of six million subscribers that very same day.

The about section of the channel simply read: "Welcome to UR Cristiano - the official YouTube channel of Cristiano Ronaldo. SIUUUbscribe!"

12 videos were posted immediately, suggesting the project has been in the works for some time, with views ranging from 400,000 at the low end, to over 2.5m.

At the time of writing, the most watched video is a game of 'Mr & Mrs' between Ronaldo and long-term partner Georgina Rodriguez. Others include Ronaldo rating out of ten a goal he scored for Portugal against Greece at Euro 2004, which looks set to be part of a long-running series, and a video comparing free-kicks taken by Ronaldo and his oldest son, Cristianinho. Another about overcoming adversity is just a clip from a press conference, while Georgina looks like she will feature heavily.

All videos so far are short. Several were under one minute in length and none ran for more than three.

Although popular with American sports star in the NFL and NBA, YouTube is still a relatively untouched medium in football. Manchester United and England's Ella Toone launched a vlog-style channel in late 2022 as she looks to capitalise on her blossoming popularity, while retired goalkeeper Ben Foster was the most prominent footballer on YouTube, pre-Ronaldo, with The Cycling GK.

As far as his career on the pitch is concerned, Ronaldo is under contract with Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League until the end of 2024/25. Leaving Europe saw his goal numbers shoot back up, netting 50 times in 51 games last season, but the veteran forward struggled at a higher level for Portugal at Euro 2024. Ronaldo will celebrate his 40th birthday in early 2025.
