- 21-year-old Swedish defender Anna Sandberg joins from BK Hacken
- She signs a three-year deal with an option of a further year
Manchester United have confirmed their fourth signing of the summer transfer window with the arrival of defender Anna Sandberg.
The 21-year-old has joined the club from Swedish side BK Hacken and she’s put pen to paper on a three-year deal until the end of the 2026/27 season with the option of a further year. Sandberg had been at BK Hacken since 2022 and boasts Champions League experience.
At international level, the Swede made her senior debut in February 2023 against China. She then made the squad for the 2023 Women’s World Cup as Sweden progressed all the way to the semi-finals of the competition and claimed third.
Speaking to manutd.com, Sandberg said: "I’m very happy and grateful to sign for this big club, Manchester United. I hope I can help our team with my qualities and deliver many winning moments for our fantastic fans."
Manager Marc Skinner added: "We are delighted to have Anna join our Manchester United family. She is a talented young player, who already has a wealth of international and Champions League experience. We look forward to seeing her develop further in red."
Sandberg is United’s third signing of the summer and she joins former Wolfsburg centre-back Dominique Janssen and ex-Brighton forward Elisabeth Terland as a new arrival. The Red Devils also signed Melvine Malard on a permanent deal from Lyon after a successful loan spell last term.
