Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed record signing Dominic Solanke will wear the number 19 shirt for his debut season at the club.

Solanke's move from Bournemouth, which could cost Spurs £65m if all add-ons are met, was confirmed last Saturday.

He was not initially handed a squad number upon his arrival, but with the 2024/25 Premier League season officially beginning on Friday, Tottenham have now announced Solanke's shirt.

The striker will don the number 19, which was vacated earlier this summer upon Ryan Sessegnon's return to Fulham on a free transfer.

Prior to Sessegnon, Spurs cult hero Mousa Dembele wore 19 during his six-and-a-half year stay in north London. It has previously been taken by the likes of Sebastien Bassong, Adel Taarabt, Andy Reid and Chris Armstrong.

Solanke has never previously worn 19 in his career, often opting to take the traditional 9 shirt for strikers. However, that number belongs to Richarlison, who has insisted he will not leave Tottenham this summer.

After a full first week of training, Solanke is in line to make his Tottenham debut when they travel to newly-promoted Leicester City on Monday night.

Head coach Ange Postecoglou confirmed Solanke may start at the King Power Stadium and has been impressed by the striker this week.

"Thankfully it is what we expected, he is a top pro, a good guy, he has sort of settled into the dressing room really well," Postecoglou said at a press conference on Thursday.

"Footballing wise you can see he has the attributes that kind of fit into what we want to do really well. There is still an adjustment period there as we play a little bit differently and train differently and we have seen that with every new signing that comes in.

"So far he has fit in really well with the group and training. We still have a couple of sessions to go but so far, so good."
