Arsenal could only secure a 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime, with Declan Rice's red card proving costly for the Gunners.

The England star was sent off for two yellow cards shortly after the break, allowing Joao Pedro to equalise after Kai Havertz had put Arsenal ahead.

Manchester City will be smiling heading into their clash with West Ham United later today as they can move two points clear of their Premier League title rivals with victory.

Here's how X users reacted to a dramatic affair in north London.

It was all going swimmingly for Arsenal heading into half-time, with Havertz handing the hosts the lead with an excellent lobbed finish minutes before the break.

After questions were asked of Arsenal's failure to bring in an orthodox striker this summer, the German proved he's still a reliable goal-getter up front.

However, the smiles were wiped off Arsenal faces just four minutes after the restart, with Rice the man to blame for the shift in mood around the Emirates Stadium.

Having been booked in the first half, the England international was cautioned again for delaying the restart after he conceded a free kick. A moment of stupidity from the midfielder.

Joel Veltman was the man fouled by Rice and he was slightly fortunate to stay on the pitch after he swung a boot at the former West Ham man during the coming together. Arsenal supporters certainly felt so.

Arsenal naturally sat deep after the dismissal and they were punished in the 58th minute by Brighton striker Pedro, who scored the late winner against Manchester United last weekend.

Yankuba Minteh's was parried into his path by David Raya and the Brazilian made no mistake with his strike from close range.

Both Arsenal and Brighton had chances to steal victory but in the end neither side looked too disheartened with a point.

Man City fans were undoubtedly the happiest after the final whistle.
